FYI: The plates will not be exactly the same shape as the old Kahler flat mount tremolos from the 80's. All but the new PL-9 "Tele" plate will still work just fine for the old flat mount Kahlers, but the older mounting plates were square cornered and square backed, the new style plates have much more rounded off corners and a new rounded back. The plate will still work, its just not as clean looking. To make your old tremolo look seamless with the new adapter plates, you will simply need to get a new style mounting plate or a completely new 7300 or 7330 if necessary. More info.
Please, don't always assume you need a plate. A plate will always raise the entire bridge 1/16", and may cause you a chain of re-adjustments to get back your desired string height. Remember, a kahler flat mount was designed to work on any flat top guitar, however a Kahler is not large in size and sometimes can't cover up everything, so sometimes a coverage/adapter plate is an easy fix. I always suggest you wait on the plate until you know if you need it. There are no refunds on plates. |
